Welcome to the Jazzelle Stories Series

Crown of Life Episode 2

Truths unfold regarding the evolution vs creation theory. Did God really create the earth formless and void? Or was it mistranslated from the original Hebrew text?
"Crown of Life" continues in the second episode with a health challenged couple, Germayne and Roy, unlocking spiritual truths through their unusual experiences.
The story takes place at a time when masks were worn for a different purpose, such as protecting oneself from volatile organic compounds then present in most all paints, and the more volatile polluting gasoline and diesel emissions. "Crown of Life" audio drama podcast is the first of several stories in the JazMeLa podcast series.
Crown of Life" is a story full of truth and hope.

INT. STORE - DAY

Germayne is in the grocery store picking up a newspaper. She is wearing a white charcoal mask. As she walks out the door a woman, SUSIE, is standing waiting for a taxi.

SUSIE
Hi, My name is Susie. Are you wearing that mask for Multiple Chemical Sensitivities?

GERMAYNE (Nodding her head)Yes, not many people know about the Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome. How do you know about it?

SUSIE
I deal with it myself. I’m going to a support group right now. Would you like to join me?

GERMAYNE
Ah no, thanks. I’m going to start calling on some rentals to see if my husband and I can find a home we can actually tolerate to move into.

SUSIE
Wow both you and your husband have this condition? Where is your husband?

GERMAYNE
Oh he is back in the forest area we are

camping. He is so sick and weak and I have been so sick too. We really need to find something to settle down in before the cold winter sets in.

SUSIE
Oh my gosh, well you guys are welcome to

come to my place in the meantime. Here is my card. Call me.

INT. ENCLOSED PORCH – DAY

CUT TO:

Germayne and Roy are seated with Jane at a small table near a window.

SUSIE
You guys are certainly welcome to spend a

few nights here.

ROY
Oh thank you but since Germayne couldn’t

find anything to rent, we best be headed to the lower desert for the winter.

SUSIE
How long have you guys been married?

Germayne looks at Roy and they smile.

ROY
We actually had a minister come out and

agree that we are married. I have been too weak to have any needle inserted in me or I go into shock. The last time I had a blood test I barely pulled out of it. So I couldn't get any blood test.

SUSIE
Oh, how awful. How did you guys meet?

GERMAYNE
Roy was camped out on some land by the

border of Mexico outside San Diego. I got microwave radiation at the cabin I was living in and ran for my life, ending up meeting him there.

SUSIE
That is amazing. Even in all the

suffering God works in strange ways.

ROY
What is so sad is that Christians don't

accept our story and hold back helping us. We are only living on our disability paychecks. We don’t even know how we can keep surviving sometime.

SUSIE
Oh that isn’t right. I have dealt with

the same unbelieving nature of the people I go to church with. They just don’t have any understanding of it. It is such a rare illness.

ROY
Yeah rare. But even so where is the

compassion. I mean Germaine and I are Christian. But we find ourselves moving towards the liberal side of things now. There is so much judgment we experience being on this afflicted side of the coin.

SUSIE
Yeah I know what you mean. I have started

taking yoga classes which are very much helping me physically as well as mentally. People in my church think I am committing a sin doing so.

ROY Doesn’t surprise me.

GERMAYNE
Wow, yoga classes. And that really helps?

SUSIE
You wouldn’t believe it. I wish you could

stay and join me for a class.

ROY
That won’t be possible. We have a long

ride back to the California Mojave desert. We need to do that before the weather changes.

SUSIE
Can you please excuse me a minute.

Susie walks out and Germayne walks over to the window.

GERMAYNE
God I just wish we could stay here and

find a rental.

ROY
Sorry it is so hard on you Germayne.

I mean with my hands so weak you are carrying the brunt of searching for a

rental, doing laundry, getting us food.

Jane walks back in with an envelope.

SUSIE
Listen I want to give a little gift of

help to you on your journey. Please keep in touch okay.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. CAR - DAY

Germayne is driving and Roy is sitting in the passenger seat with a muslin curtain keeping him hidden.

GERMAYNE
I sure wish you didn’t have to have that

thing up. We look suspicious.

ROY
I told you the sun is hurting my skin. It

burns and hurts.

GERMAYNE
I just don’t want to be bothered by any

cops pulling us aside. But blessings are coming our way. What a nice thing Susie did to give us a whole thousand dollars to help us out.

ROY
Yeah that will help us for a security

deposit. Let’s bank on we find a rental when we get back to Ocotillo.

GERMAYNE
What did you think of her doing yoga

though? Isn’t that practicing another kind of religion?

ROY
It’s all about with what intention she

is practicing it. Sounds like she is using it as exercise. Anyway no judgments.

GERMAYNE
There is a gas station. We need to fill

up. I’ll go in and see if they will fill it for us.

Germayne opens the door and starts to get out.

ROY
Watch out for the gas fumes. Shut the

door quick.

EXT. DESERT – NIGHT

Germayne and Roy are in a secluded desert area in the front seat of the car eating.

GERMAYNE
Man it is so cold out there. And the wind

cuts through me. I can even feel
my uterus spasming from it. And there isn't much housing to rent here.

ROY
Yeah Ger this is too cold for us to

think we can camp out in this. Since we have some extra cash I’ve been thinking we can get a motel room in Ocotillo. I checked when I was through here a couple years ago and they have all tile floor. I think we can make it work for us.

GERMAYNE
I sure hope so. This is crazy out here.

ROY
When you were in town getting our food

I called Karen and found out some intense news. She told me that her grandfather molested her when she was a young girl. Because she had lost her father at such a young age, I decided I wanted her growing up as close as possible to his parents so that she would have a strong bonding with her grandmother and grandfather. And I never imagined that such a thing would be done to her by her grandfather.

Oh God.

GERMAYNE

ROY
Also, her younger sister Jane was

molested by my uncle when she was a little girl. She told me it happened on a couple of occasions when we were having holidays dinners at his home. After dinner he used to take her to get ice cream just the two of them alone. And I never imagined he would be doing such a thing to her while they were out. So I ended up with two daughters being molested by close trusted family members.

GERMAYNE
Oh no, that is horrible.

CUT TO:

ROY
I feel like I just want to go and knock

them out for good.

GERMAYNE
I can imagine a lot of anger coming up.

ROY
It is just so sick. All this local church

stuff put us with blinders on to things that matter around us, our kids, our lives.

GERMAYNE
I just remember this verse in scripture

going something like: 'It would be better for a man that a millstone be put around his neck and dropped into the sea than what is going to happen to him for offending a child'.

EXT. MOTEL ROOM – NIGHT

Roy is walking toward the motel room and Germayne is opening the door with a basket of laundry.

GERMAYNE
Did you have a nice walk?

ROY
Yeah Ger, Thanks for doing the laundry.

If my hands weren’t so darn weak I would do it myself.

They both enter their room that has two chairs next to a futon on the floor. Germayne puts the clothes basket down and starts to fold the clothes and put them in piles. The clothes are all natural color and one hundred percent cotton. Roy takes off his bandana and sweater.

GERMAYNE
I just wish we could do something fun.

How about we watch a movie tonight? It’s been good hearing all the political coverage, but I am way burnt out on all of it.

ROY
I am glad you listened to it with me. It

has been good discussing it with you.

GERMAYNE
I’m still amazed all those years I was

duped thinking conservatism was the answer. I guess it is until a person becomes the underprivileged and ill that

we then take a look at it more closely.

ROY
Nothing wrong with wanting to be a part

of an American dream. Only when you step on other people’s souls and livelihood and are not honest about it.

GERMAYNE
I was listening to the radio while doing

laundry and this pastor was talking about how horrible the lies are of the schools teaching evolution principles instead
of biblical truths. Got me wondering about it all.

Germayne walks across the room and grabs a pocket-sized bible and reads.

GERMAYNE
“In the beginning God created the

heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep".

ROY
Actually Ger, you are reading from the

New International Version of the Bible. In the original Hebrew context of the Bible it actually states in verse two: and the earth “became” a desolation.

GERMAYNE
Wow, in the Hebrew! They totally

mistranslated it. I had an agnostic college friend who often brought up the argument of what kind of God would create an earth empty and formless?

ROY
There was actually a period of fourteen

thousand years from the time of the creation in verse one to the beginning of verse two when the earth became a desolation.

GERMAYNE
And that was the period of evolution that

Christians get all bent out of shape about?

ROY
Yes. In all of the thousands of years

prior to God coming down and destroying the entire species, also among all of the different humanoid species that existed during that period, the Homo Erectus are the species that anthropologists consider

to be our direct ancestors. and actually at this point in time today, a lot of people in general consider Homo Erectus to have been homo sapiens. But among anthropologists, not the general public, anthropologists tend to be very specific that they refer to Homo Erectus as a species not being homo sapiens but definitely being our direct ancestors as opposed to any other humanoid species that were on the earth during that period.

GERMAYNE
Wow, so what about the Neanderthals?

ROY
Actually the Neanderthals are traced back

to seventy five thousand years ago as a cohesive society of their own species. The truth is, the DNA for red hair comes from them.

GERMAYNE
My college friend majored in anthropology

and said that twenty percent of Neanderthal DNA survived in
modern humans, in the skin, hair and diseases.

ROY
That is what they have found. But

evangelicals and fundamentalists
going back into the twenties were on this heavy anti evolution platform.

GERMAYNE
Anti Evolution only started like in the

1920’s?

ROY
Oh yeah. It started with the Scopes

Monkey trial. Where the evolution debate actually went to court.

GERMAYNE
Before that Christians were okay with it?

ROY
It wasn’t a big deal. The whole big

deal was started in the twentieth century, when it got more and more intense.

GERMAYNE
Wow, so how did you learn about all this?

ROY
Piecemeal. I learned about the Hebrew

translation from this Englishman who wrote this book in the latter eighteen hundreds. It was called "Earth’s Earliest Ages".

GERMAYNE
You actually got a copy of this book?

ROY
I borrowed it for several weeks from a

friend of mine from the local church.

GERMAYNE
So in your local church there were others

interested in seeing the difference of the scripture translation in the two verses?

ROY
In the beginning our local church

incorporated some teachings of these English Christians of the mid and late eighteen hundreds. These English Christians were a small group of three Englishmen who studied the scriptures. One had expertise in the original Hebrew and one had expertise in the original Greek. They were able to extrapolate a lot of truths that were not being seen by modern day pastors because of Christians wanting to just see what they want to see. And their publications were never accepted by the contemporary English pastors and teachers.

GERMAYNE
So even though your local church was a

cult..

ROY
It wasn't a cult in the beginning. In the

beginning the leader of our local church was Watchman Nee in China. And Watchman Nee's number one co worker in China before the Communist takeover was Witness Lee. When the Communist took over in 1948, Watchman Nee told Witness Lee to get out of the mainland of China and flee to the island of Formosa, and take as many of the Christians who were in their broad church group out of the country to the island of Formosa. And that is also where the President of the Nationalist Chinese fled. So all the Chinese who didn’t want to be under Communist rule went to the island of Formosa. And they

set up their own government there. And Witness Lee set up the local church there.

GERMAYNE
Oh, I wondered why it was called the

local church.

ROY
In the New Testament the original way the

churches were was one church in one city, not many different churches in a city. There can be many different meeting places in the homes, but it was under one leadership in each city, and not the denominations. That is when Watchman Nee gave it the term local church. The New Testament doesn’t call the churches at that time that. The New Testament just says the church in whatever city, with one leadership for that city for all the Christians in that city who were in that church, whether they met in the homes.

GERMAYNE
Oh right like Paul to the church in

Corinth.

ROY
Right. In 1948 Watchman Nee was

imprisoned by the Communists. He believed he was supposed to stay in China while Christians fled.

Germayne goes back to the futon with the clothes basket and continues folding clothes.

GERMAYNE
Wow Roy, that was 1948 the same year

all the epic things were happening with Israel. Who wrote the book “Earth’s Earliest Ages”?

ROY
Here is the story of that. Watchman Nee

was mentored spiritually by an English woman who was at the time a missionary in the interior of China. And part of her teaching to him was telling him about the Christian group in Britain. This group was mainly just those three men and they all had tremendous insight into the Bible. One of them was the one who wrote “Earth’s Earliest Ages”, where he presented the real Hebrew word there in Geneses two which was the Earth "became". This woman missionary was familiar with all their writing and passed it on to

Watchman Nee. Watchman Nee got a copy of the “Earth’s Earliest Ages” and he taught it to Witness Lee. And Witness Lee taught it to the local church.

GERMAYNE
How did you get a copy? Was it published?

ROY
I borrowed a book from my friend in the

local church. It was probably published in the early 1920’s. I tried to find copies of it in Christian book stores but no one knew about it. It was through Witness Lee that the local church knew about these truths. It was never that God created a voidless and formless earth.

GERMAYNE
This is amazing. What a blessing to know

this.

ROY
And to verify this about verse two that

it was not created as a desolation that it became a desolation, there is a verse in Isaiah where Jehovah is speaking. You know there are a lot of direct quotes of Jehovah in the book of Isiah and this is one of them. "I am Jehovah I did not create the earth as a desolation but as a habitation".

GERMAYNE
That is a really good cross reference.

How is it that Christians and theologians do not put these two together?

ROY
God said in the scripture you are not

going to get the revelation all in one place. It shall be here a little and there a little.

GERMAYNE
Yeah that’s right. We’re supposed to

bring it all together with the Holy Spirit and make the associations.

ROY
So therefore, the beginning of Genesis

verse three, “Let there Be Light”, and all the days thereafter that follow that was not the original creation of the earth, that was a recovery of the desolation that happened.

Germayne sits back with her stomach on the futon with her

elbows resting on the futon and her chin resting in her hands. Her eyes are looking in the distance pondering.

GERMAYNE
So how did the desolation happen?

ROY
Here is how the desolation happened: The

Neanderthals as a cohesive species in society are traced back to seventy five thousand years ago and they existed in what is now Eastern France. Which today and at that time was a really wonderful climate for growth, vegetation,

GERMAYNE All the goodies.

ROY
Right, They are the ones who left the

paintings in the caves. One showing a group of four of them spearing a wooly mammoth. And a very beautiful painting of a running bull that was actually painted in different colors. It wasn’t a stick figure. It was a stylized artistic rendering that was to the level of what Greek artists were painting to adorn their pottery faces three thousand years ago. And this goes back to forty to sixty thousand years ago, somewhere in that time frame where that painting was painted on the cave wall. That means that at least somebody back at that time, that these people were not indignant caveman. There was a person capable of the same artistic level of the Greek artists three thousand years ago who were painting the same kind of stylized bulls and other animals on their pottery.

GERMAYNE
That’s amazing. How long ago were the

Neanderthals on the earth?

ROY
The Neanderthals date back to 75,000

years ago. Somewhere 45,000 to 55,000 years ago is when Homo Erectus came on the scene. They were originally from what is today Africa, and they began migrating north. They were aggressive, as they moved north. They genocided every species that they came upon. When they came to eastern France the Neanderthals were not small in number. They were a vast people. The Homo Erectus did not try to wipe them out. They inter breeded instead. They

married their women. And originally anthropologists who knew about this believed the two species inter breeded in a consensual way.

GERMAYNE Amazing.

ROY
But they later found more information

which showed that the inter breeding was forceful on the part of the Homo Erectus forcing the marriages. It was not consensual. That went on for several thousand years. Then around thirty five thousand years ago, the Homo Erectus genocided the Neanderthals so they remained the only species on earth. They had total domination on earth, which is what they wanted.

GERMAYNE (Pondering)

So they had partial Neanderthal babies.

ROY
That continued to what appears to be ten

thousand years ago. At that time they were making a transition from being hunter gatherers to agriculture farmers. They learned how to plant wheat and they were growing wheat in Eastern Turkey.

GERMAYNE
Wow this is a lot of awesome information.

ROY
So the Homo Erectus made the transition

from hunter gatherers to farmers, which had never happened before among evolved species in all the millions of years. It was at that time, Jehovah came down and it says in the book of Psalms, "He came down and the mountains melted away in his presence",and He incinerated the entire species of Homo Erectus". And that was their punishment for performing genocide on all those other species.

GERMAYNE
Dang, why did God wait so long?

ROY
Well because he considered all those

evolved species of humans to be his creation including the Neanderthals. Even though he didn’t create them with his hands like he did Adam and Eve. But they

came into being by the Word out of his mouth that brought the whole universe into being. That Word out of his mouth had the potential for all that evolution to take place, for all the galaxies to be born and all the solar systems with the suns and planets, and the life to come forth. This is all contained in the Word that went out of God’s mouth, which brought the universe into being. This is the true evolution from the beginning that was the means of his first creation.

GERMAYNE
So it could be from amphibians or

whatever the Neanderthals had evolved from way back.

ROY
Jehovah considered all those species to

be his created people in a way that he chose to be created for that time which was evolution. So Darwin was absolutely correct about the evolution of species.

GERMAYNE
Of which of course Darwin became

Christian after he wrote all that. But then did he consider his work to be right on or did he not figure it all out either?

ROY
Darwin was sad how he was taken by the

non Christians, how they saw it that it wasn’t God who was behind the evolution. Darwin had sadness about it. He never knew how much intensity of what he actually wrote got misguided by anti Christians.

GERMAYNE
Yeah it is so ironic seeing those fish

symbols resembling the fish miracle of Christ, but the anti Christians putting the name of Darwin in the symbol thinking they are so on top of the truth.

ROY
There are so few that know these things.

GERMAYNE
Speaking of fish I'm now starving.
